The Copier, 2014

In this video installation, a person is seen entering and exiting a room. In a mechanically repetitive and bored way, she feeds documents into a photo copier. At the same time, something is awoken inside the machine – a miniature representation of herself, a copy of reality, a dimension where information is materialized. The small person is initially controlled by the big one, but tries to take control of the situation. The Copier brings to mind how different layers of representation place us in power structures and raises questions of who, or what, has agency and gets to be the acting force.
