Madeleine Jacobsson
”Fish”
I create anthropomorphic figures. I place them in situations and events where they act based on one or more emotional states. The states are extensions of my own emotions, often fragmented or incomplete thoughts about social behaviors. The conditions is expressed through an amplified and distorted facial expression, both to and in front of each other. I also work with composition, color, and decor in their environments to enhance the characters' intrigue and prevailing state.
The worlds in which the characters arises, is created from my perspective of our reality. Although perceptions about reality are often individual, they are also realities that many experience together, circularly and simultaneously. The difference between what 'reality' really is and what 'real' really means, interests me in a questioning way. In consultation with the outside world and everything in it, I try to recreate these issues and perspectives of 'reality'.
I want to convey different visions and parts of reality that I want to make visible or understood. It is important for me to be able to portray what is in the 'reality' I start from or find myself in. In my art, the content coexists in its own way and which tells an experienced part of the world.
